Midlands Entrepeneur Steve Dodd – The property market is warming up says

Midlands Property Entrepeneur Steve Dodd, of FRD Associates and the Elevate Property Group, said: “This is a statement of faith that the property market is warming up.”

Dodd is referring to a new lease of life for a stalled project in that MORE than two decades of uncertainty over the future of a landmark building high on the Malvern Hills now seems to be over, with a major redevelopment well under way.

Wells House, a former coaching inn which was later a school, has been in the hands of a number of developers over the last 20 years, but none of their plans have come to fruition.

Chris Phillips Homes, got as far as opening a show apartment on 2008, but ground to a halt the next year after the firm went into voluntary liquidation as the economic crisis deepened.

But now Warwickshire-based firm FRD Associates has restarted the project.

Phase one of the development is already complete, with eight out of 11 apartments already reserved or sold. Work is under way on phase two, which will see eight more completed by the end of this month.

FRD Associates is now talking to architects and district planners about bringing the coach houses next door back into use as two more homes.

Wells House was built in 1748 as a coaching inn and later converted into a small hotel for visitors who enjoyed the pure spring Malvern water in the grounds and visited the Holy Well, just 400 yards away.

In the 20th century the building was a boarding school until 1991. Sir Edward Elgar played the chapel organ there for many years.

Dodd, a well know and prominent developer in the region with a track record spanning over 20 years said –   “This is a statement of faith that the property market is warming up.

Ward councillor Chris Cheeseman concurred: “This is a very difficult site, and congratulations are in order if this developer manages to succeed after so many have failed.”

Getting Facebook Page “Likes” no longer easy – Twiends get cut off.

June 25th, 2011  / Author: admin

One of the early sites involved in helping end users increase the “Like” numbers of their Facebook fan pages has had the oxygen supply cut off by Facebook themselves.

Twiends was an exchange system allowing users to “Like” each others pages. Since early June 2011, this facility has been pulled by Twiends.

Of course, getting some likes (at least 25) is needed to secure a permanent Facebook address.  Some businesses wishing to secure their address before it is taken by others are going to have to do it the hard way or explore alternatives.

The Twiends website offered the following statement

Although we would love to have Facebook on board with us, we see this as an opportunity to expand the Twitter services we offer. We have some exciting features planned on the Twitter side, such as competition features, and with the removal of Facebook from Twiends we’ll now have the capacity to roll these features out. We see this as an exciting new chapter for Twiends, where we can hopefully become an even more valuable contributor to the Twitter ecosystem.

Twiends still offers Twitter support as do a bunch of other sites.  However, for Facebook, getting huge numbers of “Likes”  is no longer a formality.

On a smaller scale, to get the 25 Likes to secure a permanent Facebook address, the end user can still take advantage of sites where they market your page to get Likes rather than indulging in simple link swapping.  It’s all automated and comes with a guranteed 24 Hour turnaround.

It’s important to stress that these Facebook addresses are going on a first come first served basis, so those who missed out on their web domain names during the Web 1 era, would be advised not to do the same as the Web 2 era matures.
